Seven Months Old

Anna is seven months old! She’s learned to crawl and climb all over stuff. She sometimes gets onto her hands and feet or pulls up on something. What a curious little girl! She cut her first tooth with a few restless nights, and another one will probably be coming along soon.

She’s now eating all kinds of different foods, but she really wants to feed herself and gets quite mad if you don’t let her hold a spoon or give her some finger foods while you shovel in a few spoonfuls of cereal or pureed veggies and fruits. We’re starting to give her little pieces of mushy stuff too.

Anna spends much of her day exploring and playing with her many toys. She really seems most interested in anything within reach that is not a toy, though. Her favorite activity lately is playing with the straps on Daddy’s laptop backpack. She is also now to the point where she has an opinion about having objects taken away from her and she will voice her opposition quite loudly. She is apparently a hockey fan as we found out at her first NHL game on Wednesday night. To our surprise, she wasn’t at all afraid of all the loud noise and was instead quite excited and jumped up and down, happily yelling and smiling. She seemed to love it!!! She did get a lot of attention from other fans who commented how adorable her little jersey was.

Baby Girl is making lots of little friends in our Baby and Me class. There are, I believe, 14 babies all between the ages of 5 and 11 months and we meet once a week. It’s so cute to see them all interacting, crawling all over each other. It’s a very crazy scene sometimes, but it’s so much fun and Anna seems to enjoy it quite a bit.

The weeks and months are just flying by. At this time, we think we will only have one child (as much fun as it is), and so every stage is so precious since we may only experience this once. It’s tough sometimes to watch her becoming more and more independent, but it’s also the most amazing thing in the world to watch. Until you have your own child, I don’t think you really realize how fascinating every milestone a baby reaches is. Every little thing she does is just awesome to me and I feel so proud when she does the littlest thing. Watching her personality emerge is just incredible. I never could have imagined loving and cherishing another human being this deeply before she came into my life, and I can hardly remember who I was before her.
